2:00 day 3 still in hospital

Yup its 2 and we are still here, no real changes. We think it will all go down in the next 2 days here based on what the doctors say. We are trying to keep ourselves occupied. Our friends from church group Tom and Tiffany came by to see us as did kristys sister kelly.
I got bored and decided to freak out the nurses by using the baby heart monitor to read my heart beat which is about half of the babies. they werent to worried but she did threaten to scold me.
meanwhile at the house payton is having fun with the toilet paper.
more later.

Monday morning...

Well, nothing too exciting last night. I did start to have not painful contractions around 3am that were becoming consistant, so they gave me a shot of trebuteline which is supposed to stop contractions but makes you feel like you've had 20 Red Bulls. Your heart feels like it is going to pop out of your chest and you get the shakes. The medicine did what it is supposed to do and stopped the contractions.

The doctor came this morning and wants to go ahead and induce me today or tomorrow. She was going to talk with the neonatologist to get his/her opinion but she doesn't want me to just sit around and wait for fear of infection. Since the baby will have the full effects of the steroid shots, she thinks it would be better not to chance an emergency induction. The neonatologist will have the final say as to when, so when I hear, I will update you all. It will either be after 4pm today or sometime tomorrow.

Thanks for all your continued prayers...

Kristy/Jackson Update

Hello all! Mike and Leah were kind enough to lend me their laptop so I can blog while in the hospital. As the last post stated, this all started on Saturday morning about 3am when I woke up to use the restroom. I had wet pants (keeping details to a minimum!) and thought maybe my bladder was too full and the baby had kicked me and caused incontinence. Even though I had never had incontinence problems before, I've heard it is very common especially late in pregnancy. So I changed clothes and went back to bed. At 4:30am, I woke up wet again. Knowing I had broken my water, I changed clothes again, called the hospital and woke up Moose. Leah stayed with the kids as Moose and I headed to the hospital. They confirmed my water had broken and started me on IV antibiotics to prevent infection. Since my due date has never really been clear, I am between 34 - 36 weeks, which is a big difference in baby world. At 34 weeks they are concerned the baby's lungs and no mature enough for the baby to breathe on his own, but they are less concerned at 36 weeks. So they sent me to ultrasound to get a better idea of the baby's size. They measured this thigh bone (which measured at 32 weeks), his abdomen (which measured 34 weeks), and his head (which measured at 35 weeks). So averaged out, they put me at 33 weeks 6 days. Although, based upon his abdomen measurement, they guessed his weight at 5 lbs 4 oz, which is huge for a 34 weeker. Anyways, the neonatal pediatrician wanted to play it safe and do the steroids to help the baby's lungs mature. There are really no side effects, except I get 2 shots in the rear (lots of burning. Ouch!). So here sit, just waiting for the steroids to work their magic. As of now, they want me to make it to Tuesday so the steroids have fully taken effect. If I start to have painful contractions before then, they will try to stop labor. After Tuesday, they will not induce but won't stop labor either. They are waiting for nature to take its course and if by some miracle, I do not go into labor by myself, they will induce me at 36 weeks. So, we will definitely have a February baby, but it could be Tuesday or in two weeks. We, of course want what is best for Jackson, but the thought of being in a hospital bed for 2 weeks is unfathomable to me. But the longer he cooks, the less chance that he we need assistance breathing and eating. We were told that is the hardest skill for newborns to master, is eating and breathing simultaneously. And he won't be able to go home until he can. So we will keep everyone updated as we know something new.

What a Week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please read

Ok here we go, Saturday was the great babyshower, thanks again to you all. Monday Payton had is evaluation with the school and he quallified for early special education preschool. That should really help him with his speech therapy which he will get everyday. We got home from that around noon and took Logan to the hospital at 1. He has Bronchitis, croupe and a doulble ear infection which made the rest of the week a swell time :). Thursday my dad made his trip to the hospital with a bad case of pneumonia he got out friday. Then at 3 am saturday early mornin kristy woke me up, not to wish me happy valentines day, but to inform me her water broke. After a few tests the babys lungs are underdeveloped so they are giving kristy steroids to help the baby (please keep all alex rodriguez jokes until the end of class). Basically she cant leave the hospital until the babys born because of risk of infection so it could be hours it could be days or it could be weeks. As we know more we will let you all know. Please pray that God guide us through this uncertain time. We love you all.

And to Diane, Jen and Tiffany for the gorgeous cake. Trish and Terry, thank you for letting us use your beautiful home. Thank you Dad for praying over our family. I don't think I ever posted this but this was the sexy Christmas card I gave Kristy this year. Thank God for photoshop.

Well, I think we may have done it...

After many, many, many nights of disagreeing, Moose and I have come to an agreement on a name for our 3rd boy. We had a lot of fun with the baby name poll we put up but ended up not using any of the name combinations on the list. Moose and I had each put in our favorites only to come to the conclusion that no matter which name "won," the other person couldn't bear to call our son that. So, we started over, bought another baby name book and decided on.......drum roll please......

Jackson Levi Hunt

So now all we have to do is wait for his arrival. 8 weeks and counting!!! If I make it that long!

Right in the mommy daddy button.

What a ham this kid is. He loves playing catch especially cheering himself on in front of a Christmes eve audience. Poor uncle Robert gets drilled.

What did we do?

I know it sounds bad but with our every waking hour consumed by children and planning for the new one we cant help but start to wonder...what the heck did we do before we had kids? Well, based soley on old pictures, because it seems like ancient history we would do all the normal things couples did, movies, dates, late night ice cream trips, trips out of town for no reason even though you didnt have the money. I didn't think we traveled all that much but when I look back at the list I guess we did:
San diego, anaheim, and san fran California, Utah, sedona, Las Vegas, jacksonville, st augustine, daytona, orlando, miami, alabama, tennessee, georgia, cozumel, and surrounding islands, mexico
Try it, take a look at the old photo albums (or digital picture files for sll you hip kids out there who dont know what albums are), i bet you will find some pictures you forgot about. great memories. Here are some of ours.
Jacksonville, Fl. 2003
2002 utah rainbow bridge
2005 Sedona biplane tour when i blew chunks on sedona
kristy's 21st birthday cruise. this might be the omly time i didn't have a drink in my hand. :) look at us all tan and sexy. dadgum my wife is hot.
2003 Alabama trip we drove with Faye and Furman and my grandma to see the braves.

Results from Friday...

Well, the day went better than we could hope for. We went to the school district meeting thinking that Payton was going to go through about 2 hours of evaluations and testing to determine if he qualifed for special education preschool. We brought along the final report from Payton's visit with the developmental specialist we saw in early December (which just happened to arrive in our mailbox on Thursday). With her report, we were able to skip the initial evaluations. He still had vision and hearing tests, in which he passed, but we were only there for about an hour. We were told that he will more than likely qualify for special education preschool, but they need to do more in depth evaluations in speech, language, cognitive, social/emotional, and adaptive behavior to be able to "assess his current needs" and place him in the best classroom for him. So we are waiting to receive a call to schedule an appointment.

With the DDD appt., we thought he was, again, going to have an evaluation. Turns out that the same visit with the developmental specialist saved us again. We signed a couple dozen pieces of paper and that was it! Yeah!

Thanks again to everyone who said prayers for us. We truly are grateful. Love you all!

Payton in School

This Friday we will be meeting with the PV school district for Payton getting in to Pre Pre Preschool??? I think its the grade before preschool and we are getting him in early. He will receive not only more interaction with children but he will get more speech and occupational therapy. In the last few weeks (after many hours with daddy and many tantrums, face hidings (or trying to completely disappear as seen in the picture below), and head bangings ) we are finally starting to learn some new words thanks to our sign language cards. We have a 2 hour evaluation friday and then we will go from there. Its always hard to watch these meetings because Payton looses it and gets overwhelmed so quickly but at least now we are on the right track. It's hard because sometimes he seems so normal and happy and in a second he's laying on the floor punching himself for no reason and i just cant imagine him at school, alone, it sickens me but i know he will adjust.
He also got approved for DDD although that sounds more like a wrestling move than a helping organization. There is a chance the school psychiatrist can administer the Autism spectrum test which will help us out financially. We appreciate all your support and appreciate the prayers.
Family prayer
"Lord, We all love Payton so much. Wrap him up and give him peace. Thank you for blessing us with such a special child. Please grant us more patience and thicker skin so we can help to better understand him and the reactions of those outside of our house. Payton, You are so special and gifted and I know it will be scary, even for us, but we will make it through. And they even said you can ride the little bus which is good because there isn't much room on Daddys bike." So cute and yes he does have a couple black eyes. He got really overwhelmed at target the other day and started hitting himself in the eye. Its terrible to watch and i just dont know what to do.

Payton hiding after one of our learning sessions turned ugly.
Sometimes he needs quiet time but this supprised even me.

Holy Christmas!

First off I want to start by saying Thanks to all the friends and family who made Christmas so apecial for Payton and Logan. But holy Christmas. It looks like santa threw up gifts all over the place. These things are huge! And so many. All together they got :
A large train table
An art easel
A basketball goal
A Bowling set
A new tricycle
A Plasma car
A hot wheels mega city
3 Train sets
14 new cars
a digital camera that is child destruction proof
a dance cam that hooks up to a TV and the kids can dance and watch themselves live on the TV (we are also exploring interesting adult uses for this one. well at least that is my thought Kristy just kinda glared at me)
the worlds biggest Mr potato head that contains 4 more regular sized potato heads inside
2 buzz lightyears
2 tents along with 2 crawling tunnels
2 build a bears
and of course some clothes.
(sorry if i forgot anythin.)

all of which are currently using about 317 batteries that will inevitably all go out in the same day.
Like I said thank you to all but there is no more room in the Inn. Next birthday, in March, just batteries.

My ultrasound yesterday was perfect! Baby looks great and the placenta has moved, so no more worries of lifting restrictions, bleeding, and bed rest! Thank you Lord for answering prayers!

Remembering Last Christmas...

Can't wait for this Christmas!!

Thursday, November 20, 2008

Here are the latest ultrasound pics! He is still a he (sorry Mom!) I don't think I mentioned it during my last baby post, but I am getting so many ultrasounds so they can monitor my placenta previa (or as Moose would call it placentrum primivera). I love you honey, but it was too funny to keep to myself :0) For those who are not doctors, that means the placenta is covering where the baby should come out (to not get too graphic). Ultimately, I could have a C-section but hopefully as the baby grows, the placenta will move. That's what we are praying for. Meanwhile, we get lots of beautiful baby pics to enjoy. So enjoy!

Our "Home Improvements"

Well, we had a rather eventful Sunday. We were watching some TV after cleaning the house, when we heard knocking. We realized it was coming from our bedroom. Payton had been watching a movie in there and had shut and locked the door. He doesn't know how to lock/unlock doors so we took the door handle off, but still couldn't get the lock part out. The hinges were on the inside with Payton, so naturally, the next step was to do this...

Moose shouldered the door open and Payton says "Daddy!" He then looks at the door and says, "Oh no!" Smart kid!

So about an hour later, we decided to rearrange the laundry/storage room so we could get to our Christmas decorations. Moose pulled down the ladder to the attic and climbed up. Leah and I started to hand him boxes. We finally decide we are finished, and Moose started to adjust his weight to get to the ladder, when this happens...

Yep...foot right through the ceiling! We are thankful that it was just a foot and not an emergency room visit!

Scuba Steve (well scuba logan)

All right I will admit it while i love LOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE to cook and mainly eat chili, there is nothing i despise more than chopping onions. For whatever reason i am super sensitive to the power of these little critters to the point that i cry like i was watching extreme makeover home edition while getting nose hairs plucked. So my remedy is to wear my snorkle gear while i cut and cook. Ok not the flippers or suit but definitely the mask and tube. Well Logan couldnt stop giggling at me and saying please so i put them on him and he had a blast here are some pictures.

Payton and the power of prayer.

If you all can keep Payton in your prayers we would greatly appreciate it. As many of you know he is having a rough time with his speech and tactile therapy and has a doctors appointment in early december with a doctor who specializes in autism and early childhood illnesses. As some of you know it is very hard t owatch a child struggle and do things that just dont make sense and are sometimes painful to watch.
He always seems to be off playing by him self, is having more and more tantrums in public, and is just socially and especially verbally behind. But the parts that are hard to watch is when he gets a small cut or bug bite he picks them until he is sometimes covered in blood because he doesnt want anything on him (which freaks him out even more because nothing can be on his hands) right now he has 4 bandaids on. He also does this thing where he focuses really hard on an object right in front of his face while squeezing it and tensing his whole body, going crosseyed, and stopping breathing. Today I watched him do it off and on for an hour and a half straight and whenever i would try to get him to stop he would go hide to do it. By 11 this morning he was physically exhausted and just sat on the ground in a small ball. It seems these things are just getting worse instead of better and he has even began linning up his toys on a more frequent basis (see pics below). He is a very very smart kid and one of the sweetest i have ever been around, just say a small prayer for him that maybe we can all start making sense of all this and maybe we can stop the tears for all of us. We have began praying with the kids more often and it is amazing the calming effect it has even on someone this young. Thanks, love you all.

A Golden oppurtunity

This was the kids dancin on the couch again and Payton saw an oppurtunity that he just couldn't refuse. Sorry LOLO. Hope cps doesnt get a hold of this one. ':>)
